Top 10 best Custom ROMs for Your Android Device

Just read on for the best Custom ROMs on Android and Get the best out of Your android Smartphone. We have kept together a set list that too for your pleasure :P. We will be very specific in ranking one over others on a small loop hole or even a bad interface ! it can be anything so do read what lacks and what Rocks in respective custom ROM and consider yourself in a do-or-die situation and if you DO the  just Get the ROM. “Im too Straight Forward ” i hear this often. I will also be tagging devices that currently known to support the Respective ROM
Surely im gonna miss a few things (Well i will try not to but Still i know i Will :P) , Off course i haven’t tested all of then on my Device. So Do let me know if you want me to add a few details of Issues or bug fixes in the comments. Ill be really glad to hear from you .
So here Goes the list  in descending Order !

The CarbonRom is ranked the lowest in our count down but that doesn’t means that this is the worst ROM but it actually means that we have 9more ROMs better than this which you will read further. It is a new ROM that is of course an aftermarket firmware based on Android 4.2.2 from AOSP. Some of the features included in CarbonRom are: PIE, Unofficial Voodoo sound support, lock screen options, Chronus Clock widget (from CyanogenMod), customizable hardware and software keys, and much more. Following is the list of devices that can be Flashed with this ROM
  • Samsung Galaxy S3 (d2att, d2spr, d2tmo, d2vzw, d2usc, d2mtr, d2cri, i9300)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (i605, i900, t0lte, n7100)
  • Samsung Galaxy Nexus (maguro, toro, toroplus)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note International
  • Samsung Galaxy S2 International
  • Nexus 4
  • HTC One X International
  • HTC One S
  • Nexus 7
  • Nexus 10
  • Samsung Infuse 4G

Vanilla RootBox

Well this is another ROM ranked at 9th position in our count down. Most of us are really unaware of this ROM but this is what we are therefore we are gonna have spot light on the ROMs. The infamous ROM is built from a few sources like CM, AOKP, and Paranoid Android. The ROM also includes features like Per app DPI, Per app Tablet UI, OTA updates which makes the ROM stand no behind the other ROMs. The ROM is Currently Available for the Following devices.
  • Galaxy Nexus (maguro only)
  • Nexus 4
  • Nexus 7
  • Galaxy Note 2 (N7100, L900, i605)
  • Samsung Galaxy S2 (I9100, I9100G)
  • Samsung Galaxy S3 (I9300, I747, T999, I535)

The SlimBean ROM stands at the 8th position in our count down spot light. What makes it different from other ROMs is that is basically the slimmer version of the stock android ROM (that is actually what its name suggests). The ROM is packed with in built set up profiles, theme engine, and much more. The can be flashed on many devices but we have numbered just a few devices that are a bit famous ones.
  • Nexus 4
  • Nexus 10
  • Nexus 7 & Nexus 7 3G
  • Galaxy Nexus (maguro, toro, and toroplus)
  • Nexus S & Nexus S 4G
  • Galaxy S3 (I9300, d2att, d2tmo, d2spr, d2vzw)
  • Galaxy Note International & Galaxy Note AT&T

The Xylon ROM is another pretty fast and responsive ROM which is famous for its fast and easy to use shortcuts. The Xylon is another custom ROM that is built off of AOSP, that actually means that the ROM is based on stock ROM with a few features added over it. Basically the features of FNV, CM, AOKP, Team BAKED, and Paranoid Android make up to be Xylon ROM . The ROM is very smooth and its reviews have revealed that the ROM is very much friendly with the Battery life and extends it at an unbelievable rate. Unfortunately he ROM is not so universal and is only available on the Google Nexus 4.  This ROM needs a thumbs up from all of the Nexus 4 users.

The CodefireX ROM is another very high at performance and smooth at using. The ROM has a plenty of features from the CynogenMod, Well CynogenMod has just became the ancestor of all the newly developed ROMs don’t know why developers these days are not coming with something new other than just amending the old features and embedding them into their ROMs.
So the CodefireX ROM has a Good user interface and has a very nice lag less performance on high end games. The ROM is available on many devices, we have set a few devices here which can be flashed with this ROM.
  • Nexus 4
  • Galaxy Nexus (Maguro, Toro)
  • Nexus 7 & Nexus 7 3G
  • Galaxy S3 (d2vzw)
  • LG Optimus G

We can compare this ROM to the CynogenMod but is less familiar and famous to most android users. The ROM is very similar to CynogenMod but has very much new and different features on over it.  Most of the areas in the ROM are from the stock android but a few places are just better than CynogenMod. The ROM is good for Gaming and is very smooth at performance. The ROM is not very famous and is available for a few devices only. The following is the list o the Devices which can be flashed with Euroskank.
  • Nexus 4
  • Nexus 7
  • Galaxy S3 (i9300, d2att, d2spr, d2tmo, d2vzw)
  • Galaxy Nexus (Toro, Toroplus, Maguro)
  • Nexus 10
  • Transformer TF300T

P.A.C. True All in 1 ROM

This Very nice and off course high at performance ROM is set at the 4th position in ourCountdown Set List of the Best Custom ROMs available in 2014.  This is an all in one ROM that  gathers and collaborates the best features of CyanogenMod 10.1, AOKP, and Paranoid Android very generously. The ROM is very good at Gaming and gas a scope of betterment in theinterface as it frequently gets updated. The awesome ROM is not available f0r many devices bu t we have listed a few devices which have the capability t o be flashed by this ROM.
  • Nexus 4
  • Galaxy Note 2
  • Galaxy S2
  • Samsung Galaxy Nexus

The AOKP doesn’t needs any recognition here it is the 3rd in out Countdown list. Android Open Kang Project AOKP for this ROM which was started in 2011 with ice Cream Sandwich as its base. It’s been one of my all time favorites on a Nexus device because you can change the software key colors. The AOKP has hundreds of features that’s ant really be explained here but one can only understand while using This ROM. Performance tweaks, customizable LED notifications, and much more abilities of this ROM makes it stand aside from other ROMs. The ROM can be flashed on the Following Android Devices.
  • Nexus 4
  • Motorola Droid 3
  • Motorola Droid 4
  • Motorola Droid Bionic
  • Motorola Droid Razr
  • Galaxy Nexus
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 2
  • Samsung Galaxy S2
  • Samsung Galaxy S3
  • HTC One XL

The most Popular ROM in the Flashing arena is here at the second position in our list of best custom ROMs. CyanogenMod has been around since the beginning. And has gained more team members, device support and new features over the years. Including customizable quick settings, customizable software and hardware keys and much more. CyanogenMod 10.1 is available for a ton of devices. Also developers change kernels of few Phones to make this ROM work on their device. also there are plenty and thousand of Themes are available for CynogenMod on the Google Play Store. still we are not going to term any features as there are many many to be listed out here.Actually this is the best option for a newbie for flashing a ROM and i personally use this ROM and im very happy with it.

The Following are the devices that supports CynogenMod. But these are not the only devices you can check out the website to now the actual blah too long list of supported devices.
  • Nexus 4
  • Nexus 7
  • Nexus 10
  • Galaxy Nexus (Maguro, Toro, Toroplus)
  • Galaxy S3 (I9300, d2att, d2tmo, d2spr, d2vzw, d2cri, d2mtr, d2usc)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (all variants)
  • HTC Incredible 4G LTE
  • HTC One X
  • Motorola Xoom & Motorola Xoom 3G
  • Samsung Epic 4G
  • Nexus S & Nexus S 4G
  • Galaxy Grand

Paranoid Android

At the Bottom of our list of top 10 custom ROMs but is the best ant the 1st t be preferred for flashing and all other aspects. The recently released ROM is not new to every one as many of us are awaiting this ROM. While this is the first ROM to be based on android 4.2.2 JellyBean  Source. The ROM includes Tons of additional features that another ROM does not offers. A few features are like pie, Changing Colors according to Apps(best for personalization), WE can set DPI according to Apps, 3 different user interfaces ( tablet/phablet/phone UI) That’s not it this ROM has much more to give one can use this ROM and unveal its other features too. The ROM is available on these devices.
  • Nexus S
  • Nexus 7
  • Nexus 4
  • Nexus 10
  • Galaxy Nexus (Maguro, Toro, and Toroplus)
  • Galaxy S3 (i9300, d2tmo)
  • ASUS Transformer TF700T

Indian handset brand, Xolo, recently launched its new smartphone or rather phablet, the Xolo Q2000, which features the company's biggest screen on a smartphone, yet. The phone boasts of decent hardware specifications and promises to offer all the features of a modern phablet at an economy price point. Is it good enough to take on the likes of Samsung's phablets? We try to find out in our review.

Build/ Design
When you first look at theXolo Q2000, you realise it's a big black slab with a utilitarian design, not evoking any emotions. The phone's front features its massive 5.5-inch IPS display, the three capacitive touch buttons for navigating aroundthe phone's interface placed below it, and the sensor array and the front-camera lens, placed above it. Enclosed in a plastic frame, the bottom edges out, creating a small chin-like extension. The Q2000 is rectangular with corners that are not rounded, giving it a sharp look. The left edge of the Xolo Q2000 features the Power/ Screen lock key, while the left edge houses the volume rocker. Both the keys are made of plastic and offer decent tactile feedback. The top edge sports the Micro-USB port and the 3.5mm headset jack. The edges feature a sturdy frame which appears to be made from polycarbonate, bearing a glossy finish. The back of the Xolo Q2000 features a thin plastic cover that hides the battery compartment holding a 2600mAh battery, apart from the SIM card and microSD card slots.  The cover sports a matte finish, and felt very flimsy in contrast to the otherwise sturdy-build of the phone. A rectangular strip, made from the same material that we've seen on the edges protrudes out, right at the top, featuring the rear camera lens.Overall, barring the back cover, the Xolo Q2000 looks and feels solid, though it's not really optimised for one-handed usage.DisplayThe Xolo Q2000 features a 5.5-inch IPS display with a 720x1280 pixel resolution and pixel density of 267ppi. The panel supports 5-point multi-touch.The viewing angles of the Xolo Q2000's display looked good, and the brightness of the phone was optimum. Outdoor visibility was above average though the screen was a bit reflective. While the display sports a decent resolution, at times it looked pixelated, probably due to the bigger screen size resulting in less number of pixels per inch. One issue that we encountered withthe phone was its inconsistent touch sensitivity. A number of times, the onscreen keyboard failed to register key-strokes. This issue makes using the phone frustrating. We're not sure if it was limited to our review unit.

The Xolo Q2000 features an 13-megapixel autofocus shooter that takes great images in daylight. Even in low-light conditions, apart from some noise, we felt that the rear shooter does a nice job of capturing stills. We were also satisfied with the quality of pictures taken by the Xolo Q2000 indoors, though we did find them to be a little grainy occasionally.Xolo Q2000 can record full-HD videos and we found that the quality of videos captured through the back camera was good. It also offers EIS or Electronic Image Stabilisation to minimise distortions caused by shaking of hands while shooting a video. Unfortunately, the camera saves videos in the archaic .3GP file format. The 2-megapixel front facing camera on the Xolo Q2000 also takes decent quality shots with good lighting conditions and is greatfor video calls. Overall, the phone is pretty good for casual photography. The Xolo Q2000 comes with a customised Camera app, and allowsyou to capture photos in HDR, 'face beauty' mode, Panorama modes, 'auto-scene detection', and 'best shot' modes in addition to an EV bracket mode for taking multiple exposure photos. The Q2000's camera app also comes with the usual controls including settings for Exposure, Colour effect, White balance, Scene Modes and ISO, among others. The phone's camera also supports continuous shots taking up to 40 shots in that mode, smile detectionand face detection. Some of the options in the camera app's interface are not self-descriptive which makes it a little unintuitive for new smartphone users.Software/ User InterfaceThe Xolo Q2000 runs Android 4.2.1,and the company has not customised the user interface much, except for offering four preloaded themes, namely Mint, Mocha, Raspberry and the default theme that bring minor changes in the phone's colour scheme. The notification tray on the Xolo Q2000 features a settings shortcut and a clear-all notifications button, along with expandable notifications (expanded with the two-finger pull gesture). It features the same setting toggles shortcut that's foundin stock Android and adds some of its own as well, for quick access to airplane mode, battery status, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, data connection, data usage, audio profiles, brightness, screen-backlight timeout and auto rotation.Similar to most other Android devices, there are five customisable home screens on the Xolo Q2000's UI that can be filled with app shortcuts and widgets. Thethree capacitive buttons, Menu, Home and Back, help in navigating through the phone, with the Home button also doubling up as an app switcher on long press. One major gripe with these buttons is that they don't light-up in the dark even when the screen is on until you press one of them. You also get lock-screen widgets  onthe Xolo Q2000 - an Android 4.2 feature. You can choose from the Clock, Camera, Gmail, Google Now and Messaging widgets in addition to widgets offered by third-party apps installed on your phone. Thesewidgets offer 'glance-able' information from the apps and allow users to perform certain app actions even when the phone is locked. The phone also offers another Android 4.2 feature, Daydream, that displays photo albums or the clock while the phone's charging. The option to wirelessly mirror the phone's display with an HDMI-enabled device through a wireless display adapter is also present.Xolo has also bundled some apps with the phone including NoteBook for creating colour coded notes andtask lists; PlayApp - an app recommendation utility; a File manager; a video player app, and Xolo Power and Xolo Secure apps for power management and security. The Xolo Power app claims to allow you to track battery consumption by checking your usage pattern and making changes to settings to optimise it. The Xolo Secure app claims to allow you to protect, locate and wipe data in case your phone gets stolen.Performance/ Battery LifeThe Xolo Q2000 is powered by a 1.2GHz Mediatek MT6589 quad-core processor. It has 1GB RAM onboard, and PowerVR SGX 544MP chip for processing graphics. There is 8GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. With Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean, the overall experience of navigation through the interface was impressive, thanks to the phone's quad-core processor. We did not experience any lag while launching apps, scrolling web pages or switching between apps.We were able to play games like Temple Run 2 and Subway Surfers, without encountering any lag. However, graphics intensive games like Asphalt 7 did not run smoothly on the Q2000, dropping frames. We were able to play full-HD clips smoothly and the phone supported formats like .AVI and .MOV, natively. The speaker on the Xolo Q2000 delivers decent quality sound at high volume levels, but there's some muffle when the phone lies on its back, as the speaker grill is located on the back. The headphones that come with thephone offer average quality sound output. The phone also offers FM Radio.Call quality of the Xolo Q2000 was good during our testing process, and phone was also able to get a GPS lock rather easily while using the Maps app.The Xolo Q2000 comes with a 2600mAh battery, and based on our experience, it will last you a fullday with medium to heavy usage, including 1-1.5 hours of phone calls, two e-mail accounts with pushnotifications, screen at maximum brightness, playing some music andvideo clips, Twitter notifications andWhatsApp chats. It's also worth pointing out that we had turned off Wi-Fi and auto-brightness, and the phone washooked to a 3G network. Altering these settings might help in running the phone for a longer duration, depending on your usage pattern.

At a price of Rs. 14,999, the Xolo Q2000 is a good budget phablet that delivers decent performance, without burning a hole in your pocket. However, the display, whichis one of the major factors for choosing a large screen device, could have been better in terms of resolution, and definitely in terms of overall touch sensitivity. If you don't mind the non-expandable storage, and are ready to shell out more, you can also take a look at theMicromax Canvas Doodle 2. TheSamsung Galaxy Mega 5.8is also a similar device, though we weren't really satisfied with it in terms of hardware performance. If you can settle for a 5-inch screen, than theZen Ultrafone 701is our pick.Overall, the Xolo Q2000 just falls short of being the perfect economyphablet.Price:Rs.14,999

The Desire 500 is a great-looking phone. It's a slim handset with bevelled edges and a slightly raised screen, which together give it a chiselled, defined look. Our test handset was the Glacier Blue model, with a white back and metallic turquoise around the sides and surrounding the camera lens. We're fans of this colour scheme, but there's also a more restrained black model available. Whichever colour you choose, you'll have a phone which is both slimmer and more stylish than pretty much any budget handset out there.DISPLAYThe Desire 500 may look top-drawer,but its specification is more modest. The screen, for example, is an 800x480-pixel model, which was fairly standard for a phone this price until the Moto G came along with its 1,280x720 display. Android looks fine at this resolution, but it's not ideal for desktop-mode web pages; you can read headlines fine, but you have to zoom in to decipher smaller text. The display is reasonable, with clean whites and no colour tinge, butit's not particularly inspiring. Most text is grey rather than black, and colours lack punch.CHIPSET AND BENCHMARKSThe phone has a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, which is standard for the price, and 1GB RAM, which is the minimum we'd expect on an Android handset. The phone is generally a reasonable performer. It’s not quite as slick when going back and forth to the app tray as the Moto G, possibly due to some overhead from HTC's Sense interface, but it's quick enough to be perfectly usable. It's a slim
